In-house Plan Design
Since 1979, Honest Abe has created forever homes. That’s because the designers have a combined 60+ years of experience in drafting plans that encompass customers’ desires and needs. This expertise produces a detailed floor plan that makes manufacturing and construction more accurate and more simple. Whether it’s a modest cabin or a palatial retreat, Honest Abe turns visions of a fantasy home into a tangible reality.
Wood Species
Honest Abe exclusively use Eastern White Pine for wall logs, log sidings, support posts, blocking, porch posts, porch plates, porch rafters, railings and trim. Douglas Fir is used for heavy timber rafters, collar ties, wall-tie trusses, ceiling beams, girders and timber frame components. After 40 years of manufacturing log and timber home, they’ve found these renewable species to be the most durable, stable, cost effective and energy efficient – not to mention beautiful.
Kiln Drying
Kiln drying is not an option with Honest Abe – it is an absolute necessity. Properly dried, white pine and fir materials are more stable and uniform. Kiln-drying kills pests, stops sap and allows for accurate grading. Components are lighter resulting in lower shipping costs and easier construction. Feel confident that every piece of wood we supply for your home has been kiln dried and inspected right in the mill.

The company’s leaders have taken leadership roles throughout its history with the National Association of Homebuilders Log and Timber Home Council. Honest Abe chooses to have all materials that go into customers’ homes and businesses independently inspected by Timber Products Inspection, Inc.’s certified graders. Honest Abe Log Homes has earned an A+ Rating with the Better Business Bureau.
